What are the Different Types of Buprenorphine Drug Testing Kits?

We offer a variety of buprenorphine drug testing kits. Each kit is designed for different situations and what you need to test for. Here’s an overview:

Types of Testing Kits Description Advantages Ideal for
Urine Testing Kits The test identifies trace amounts of the medication's byproducts (metabolites) in your urine. Get results in just minutes, offering a fast and reliable way to determine your buprenorphine status. Employers, rehabilitation centers, parents, and individual consumers.
Saliva Testing Kits Detect buprenorphine in saliva with a simple collection process. Simple collection process, quick results, difficult to tamper with. Employers, Law enforcement, schools, and individual consumers.

How to Use Urine Testing Kits for Buprenorphine Drug

Allow the test cup to come to room temperature [15-30℃ (59-86℉)] prior to test.

  1. Tear open the foil bag, take out the test cup and the disposable gloves provided for the donor. Label the device with the donor's information. (Fig. 1)

  2. Open the test cup lid and urinate directly into the test cup, ensuring the urine specimen fills the cup between the minimum mark of 30 mL and the maximum mark of 110 mL. (Fig. 2)

  3. After collecting the urine specimen, securely close the lid and return the cup to the collection official. (Fig. 3)

  4. The collection official should use the provided gloves. Peel off the label to reveal the test result, and read it at the 5-minute mark. DO NOT INTERPRET THE RESULT AFTER 10 MINUTES. (Fig. 4&5)

How to Use Our Saliva Testing Kits for Buprenorphine Drug

Allow the test cup, specimen, and/or controls to reach room temperature (15-30°C) prior to testing.

Instruct the donor to not place anything in the mouth including food, drink, gum or tobacco products for at least 10 minutes prior to collection.

  1. Take the collection sponge and test cube out of the sealed pouch, and remove the packaging from around the sponge.

  2. Insert the sponge end of the saliva collector into the mouth. Actively swab the inside of the mouth and tongue for 2-3 minutes until the sponge is fully saturated. Gently pressing the sponge between the tongue and teeth will help with saturation. Ensure there are no hard spots on the sponge when it is saturated.

  3. Remove the collector from the mouth and place the saturated sponge into the test cup. Screw the collector down to press the sponge fully and release the oral fluid.

  4. Place the test cup on a clean, flat surface. Remove the peel-off label, wait for the flow to appear in the test windows, and start a timer.

  5. If the sample does not move in the test cup after 3 minutes, rotate the cup 4-5 times.

  6. Read the test results between 3 and 10 minutes. If all lines are clearly visible at 3 minutes or sooner, the test can be interpreted as negative and discarded. If any lines are not visible at 3 minutes, re-read the test at 10 minutes.

  7. For the alcohol strip, when applicable, read the results at 2 minutes. Compare the color of the reaction pad with the chart provided separately or on the foil pouch to determine the relative oral fluid alcohol level.

How Long Should You Wait to See the Results?

Here is an overview of the expected waiting times for our buprenorphine drug testing kits:

Types of Testing Kit Waiting Time Factors Affecting Duration
Urine Testing Kit 5 minutes Hydration levels, urinary pH, and frequency of use can influence how long buprenorphine remains detectable in urine.
Saliva Testing Kit 3 to 10 minutes Saliva tests have a shorter detection window, making them useful for detecting recent use.

Factors Influencing Detection Times

  • Individual Metabolism: People process medications at different rates. Factors like age, weight, and body composition can affect how quickly your body eliminates buprenorphine and its metabolites.
  • Dosage and Frequency: Higher doses and more frequent use of buprenorphine will generally lead to longer detection times in a urine test.
  • Hydration: Staying well-hydrated can dilute your urine, potentially shortening the detection window. Conversely, dehydration can concentrate your urine, making buprenorphine metabolites more easily detectable.
  • Liver and Kidney Function: The liver and kidneys are responsible for processing and eliminating waste products from the body, including medications. If your liver or kidney function is impaired, it can take longer to clear buprenorphine from your system.
  • Other Medications: Certain medications can interact with buprenorphine's metabolism, potentially affecting detection times. It's important to disclose all medications you're taking if undergoing a buprenorphine test with a healthcare professional.

How Accurate Are Our Buprenorphine Drug Testing Kits?

Our drug tests are highly accurate! Evaluated by three different individuals using our drug testing samples, they demonstrated:

  • 92.5% accuracy for positive results: This means that when the test detects a drug, it is correct 92.5% of the time.

  • 100% accuracy for negative results: This means that when the test shows no presence of a drug, it is always correct.

While factors such as pH levels, hydration, metabolism, physical activity, or the use of other substances can influence drug test results, our tests remain unaffected by these variables. This shows that our tests are highly reliable and consistent, making them an excellent choice for drug detection.
